Here are some basic terms to know for snowboarding so you may better understand the words used in this page:

Binding - The object on the board that holds a rider's feet in position
Fakie - A term used to describe riding backwards.
Freeriding - Snowboarding on all types of terrain for the fun of it.
Freestyle Snowboarding - Riding the halfpipe, but also any other type of riding including tricks and maneuvers.
Goofy Footed - Riding on a snowboard with the right foot in front.
Grab - To grab the edge of the snowboard with one or both hands.
Toe Side - The edge of the board that your feet are pointing at.
